The Computer Centre web pages are designed to introduce you to the range of computing facilities and services that are offered by the SDM IMD Computer Centre. These pages are updated on a regular basis so be sure to check regularly to find the latest news and services that are available. To facilitate users, the Computer Centre provides an online helpdesk service. SDM IMD provides the best computing environments among management institutions in the country. Operating round the clock, with a large number of desktops (more than 200 PCs), High end servers and a campus wide network through Optic Fiber Cable (OFC) backbone, high-speed CISCO switches and router integrated with access to Leased Line Internet Connectivity. The campus has setup the wireless connectivity, video conferencing, electronic boards which represents the major attraction of SDM IMD. The campus network links the computing resources in the faculty offices, student labs, administrative units, student hostels, management development center with Internet access to every desktop in the campus.
SDM IMD Computing infrastructure offers a heterogeneous range
of hardware and software platforms for the student to appreciate and gain wide-range of
experience. The desktop environment is dominated by high end workstations. The entire
network has access to Windows NT, Linux, Windows 2003 and e-mail servers. The Library
system loaded on Digital Tech Focuz server running Open Source and the CD ROM server with
full text journal articles in electronic form are also accessible through the net. Access to
Corporate Databases like CMIE, IDBI, and AIR database are also available over the network. This
intranet serves as the “Information Highway” of the University offering a variety of services
to the campus community. It is also proposed to connect, in near future, the off-campus centers
/units of the University to the intranet. Currently, the services, offered over this platform,
are: internet, online journals, CD database subscription, cataloguing, digital library etc from
Library and general computing.
The Computer Centre will be pleased to offer you help in getting started in using the computing facilities. All students are given a personal computer account, email address, network drive, personal space on the File server and access to the Internet.
SDM IMD is proud of the close links it has with industry and understands the need to support this by providing excellent computing facilities. The software and services provided over the Campus network are accessible 24/7 through out the year. Advanced networked technologies such as Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi Network are used to link Windows XP/ NT / 2003 PCs and Linux workstations distributed across campus, a wide portfolio of leading software packages are available on the networked computers.
